OVERALL PRODUCTION NUMBERS
This table gives a basic overview of Ford Falcon / Fairlane / LTD production figures from 1971 to 1979.
Sub-totals for builds at Broadmeadows (JG) and Brisbane (JH) are also presented here.
CKD exports include the Falcon sedan, wagon, ute and Fairlane sedan body styles
exported to Ford in New Zealand and South Africa.
The total number of third generation Falcon and second generation Fairlane / LTD
built from 1971 to 1979 totals 630,933 units including exports and known CKD kits.

Production for the XA range began at the end of 1971 with examples of the Falcon sedan
being delivered for promotional and advertising purposes going into the 1972 model year.
The Ford Brisbane (Eagle Farm) plant began production in 1972 but did not undertake
assembly of the Hardtop, Van, Fairmont Wagon, Fairlane and GT series.
The was also no '500' series in the XA Van range.

The XB production range saw the mass production of the Falcon with over 85,000 XB 500
sedans alone built from 1973 to 1976. The Brisbane plant did not produce any Hardtop,
Van, Fairlane / LTD, GT series in the XB range but, oddly, did produce one XB Fairmont
Wagon in August, 1973 (VIN Prefix: JH35NG).
Taxi model numbers were introduced in the XB range likely in order to distinguish
private and commercial use of the sedan. An unconfirmed total of 3,239 taxis built
at Broadmeadows comes from verification letters of XB 500 sedans compared
against the overall total produced.

The XC range introduced a number of changes doing away with the Futura and GT series
but introducing the GXL, Sundowner and 500 Hardtop with the GS pack as standard.
The Brisbane plant did not produce any Hardtop, Van, Fairmont Wagon styles but
did undertake production of the Fairlane series and LTDs from late 1978 as production
lines at Broadmeadows were prepared for the new XD Falcon range in 1979. In fact, all
XC Falcon production ended at Broadmeadows in December, 1978 with only the Van
and Ute built into 1979.
The last ever XC Falcon built was a Std Van in July, 1979 (VIN prefix: JG40WS).
All Sundowner Vans were built at Broadmeadows, the last batch
of 15 built in March, 1979.

The XB Falcon 500 sedan was one of the most produced Falcon series with over 85,000 built from 1973 to 1976.
Note the front disc-brakes which were a standard fitting on the XB range.
